This fall, several business partners with Fairfax County Public Schools were recognized with Martha Glennan Disability Inclusion & Equality Awards.  The award winners are listed below and a link to the story can be found at:

Individual Award: Sheila Barnes

Organization Award: Cameron’s Coffee and Chocolates

  • Cameron’s Coffee and Chocolates provides jobs for eight individuals with disabilities including ownership, managerial and job coaching positions.  Cameron’s has a welcoming and friendly staff, and they make excellent coffee, chocolates and other delicious products.

Organization Award: Securis

  • Securis has provided training and work experience to over 100 Fairfax County Public School students with disabilities for 11 years resulting in integrated full time and part time employment.  They are dedicated to hiring employees with disabilities and empowering them with the skills necessary to successfully enter the workforce.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Doug James

  • As the Northern Virginia Regional Director for the Virginia Department of Aging & Rehabilitative Services, Doug James (retired) was dedicated to  ensuring that people with disabilities were working in the most integrated employment setting.  He has been a strong supporter and partner of the Fairfax Area Disability Services Board since its inception, and has been instrumental in the sustainability of the John Hudson Internship Program.
