President’s Corner

VADCDT has been very busy since June.

Transition: The Future is Now conference was held in Staunton, VA with our partners VDOE, DARS, VECAP, and WWRC. The keynote speakers from Colorado spoke about IEP Triangulation. It was very informative. Along with the keynote speakers we had an Agency Panel Discussion at lunch and break-out sessions that included information about WIOA, Transition 101, Navigating the Employment Puzzle and Vocational Assessment, Legislative Advocacy, and Assistive Technology!  Believe it or not, but that was only the first day!  The committee, on the second day, had speakers discuss Aligning the IEP and IPE goals, and Employment First. Our big hit was the tour of Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center. Thank you to the committee, vendors, speakers, and participants for an enlightening conference!
